Tigers Take Down Rapids, 5-4, in 10
|
The Connecticut Tigers electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.
Niagara Falls got a terrific performance from pitcher Emiliano Caldera, but it wasn't enough to beat the Connecticut Tigers. Connecticut won the Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium contest, 5-4. Caldera threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The winner was Connecticut reliever Ryan Rosen, now 1-0. The loser was Jason Hutchinson.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the tenth, an error by the Rapids allowed the Tigers to score the winning run.
"We had a chance to win," said Niagara Falls manager Chris Cornwall, "but we didn't get it done."
The Tigers are now 5-13, while the Rapids fall to 9-8.
