The Wenatchee Chiefs picked up a win at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, knocking off the Staten Island Pizza Rats, 9-3. Starting pitcher Wade Gaskell was a big reason why. Gaskell got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Gaskell allowed 1 run. Armando Martinez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

With one out in the top of the eighth, Ashton Ellars had a game-changing hit. The Chiefs catcher slammed a 2-run single off Quillan Dore, making the score 4-1, Wenatchee.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Aaron Lambert said.
