Niagara Falls Downs Batavia, 3-2
|
Behind an impressive start by Mort Wilson, Niagara Falls beat Batavia, 3-2. The winner was Wilson. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Richie Johnson. Benjamin Powers collected his 1st save.
Niagara Falls used a clutch at-bat from Aiden Whitaker to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rapids ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Batavia manager Adam LaBreck. "The effort was great."
Niagara Falls currently is in third place in the New York-Penn League North Division at 23-15.
