Lance Whitley was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Falcon Park. In fact, the Auburn Doubledays right-hander was instrumental in his team's 2-1 victory over the Niagara Falls Rapids. In 6 innings, Whitley surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. T.J. Lockett collected his 9th save.

The Doubledays got a big at-bat from right fielder Neal Ross. For the game, Ross went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Auburn a 2-1 lead.
