Vermont had no answer for Salem-Keizer Volcanoes starter Matty Walker, who flummoxed Lake Monsters hitters as the Volcanoes cruised to victory, 9-0. Walker, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. With the win, the Volcanoes improved to 12-8.

Josh Wright dealt the Lake Monsters a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Salem-Keizer leading 1-0, Wright hit a first pitch changeup for a 2-run single.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Volcanoes manager Ron Gabrielian.
