Black Bears Beat Jokers, 14-5
|
Jasper Sandahl led West Virginia to a win over Atlantic City. The final score was 14-5. Sandahl scored 3 times, while going 3 for 4. The right fielder also totaled 2 RBI. West Virginia reliever Jeremy Mauldin got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Gustavo Gonzáles was tagged with the loss. The Black Bears now have a record of 26-16.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the second. That's when Black Bears center fielder Tommy Fennell hit a fastball from Jessie Mullins for a 2-run single. Just like that, West Virginia was up, 3-2.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Sandahl told the West Virginia News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
