Staten Island first baseman Cooper Sherman had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-4, to Lowell at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Sherman went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Trevis Sanchez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Justino Cojera suffered the loss. Lowell is now 22-19, while Staten Island is 23-18.

Lowell used the timely hitting of Caro Cruz to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Spinners on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Lowell manager Jason Blahut commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
