ValleyCats Rally to Nose Past Connecticut
|
The Connecticut Tigers got a sterling performance from pitcher Eddie Harris, but the Tri-City ValleyCats still prevailed, 5-4. Harris threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. Lukas Johnson was credited with the save for Tri-City, his 1st of the season. The win gives the ValleyCats a record of 12-29.
Tri-City used the timely hitting of Vern Fauntleroy to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the ValleyCats on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Fauntleroy attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
