Cyclones Foil Ironbirds, 4-3
|
Brooklyn Cyclones starter Tillman Robinson was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 4-3. Robinson, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Noah Sellers closed the door for Brooklyn, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Derek Renteria dealt the Ironbirds a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Brooklyn leading 3-1, Renteria, who is tied for 7th in the NYP in home runs with 4, hit a 1-1 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"Good team win," Renteria said. "I love it when a plan comes together."
The Cyclones sit in second place in the New York-Penn League South Division with a record of 12-8.
