Lowell Drops Another One, 4-0
|
Getting an impressive start from Dónovan Chavez, Youngstown beat Lowell by the score of 4-0. The winner was Chavez. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Les Burlingham. Jeffrey Appleton collected save number 6.
Homer Bennett had a big 3-run home run for the Gremlins in the bottom of the first inning. With Youngstown leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Les Burlingham and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Gremlins on top, 4-0.
"Dónovan is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Youngstown manager Brandon Haviland.
The Gremlins improved their record to 22-17 with the win over Lowell.
