Late Rally by Pippins Secures 3-1 Win
|
A good time was had by all at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, where the Gold Beach Sea Unicorns and Yakima Valley Pippins tangled.
The Gold Beach Sea Unicorns got a sterling performance from pitcher Christian Burns, but the Yakima Valley Pippins still prevailed, 3-1. Burns threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner in relief was Anthony Good. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.
Jeff Geddes drove in one run for Yakima Valley. In the bottom of the fourth, with the teams deadlocked, 0-0, Geddes delivered for the Pippins. His run-scoring ground out put Yakima Valley on top, 1-0.
"This team is capable of getting on a roll," said Yakima Valley skipper Hugo Brito.
The victory gives Yakima Valley a record of 11-11.
