Oilers Lose Late, 7-3
|
Though he had a terrific game, Oliver Dziedzic could not prevent his team, the Oil City Oilers, from absorbing a loss. Maine won the game, 7-3. Dziedzic was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Simon Ingram. Maine currently is in first place in the New York-Penn League North Division at 26-18.
Maine left fielder Josh Sherbert contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the ninth. With two down, he hit a cutter to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 31st hit of the season and put the Lobsters ahead, 5-3.
Sherbert told a Maine Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
