The Brooklyn Cyclones got a superb performance from pitcher Jared Devereaux. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Staten Island. The Pizza Rats won the game, 2-0. Devereaux threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. Gabriel Penn snagged the win in relief. He goes to 4-1 on the season. Rahim Joseph suffered the loss. After today's action, Staten Island sits at 25-20, while Brooklyn falls to 22-23.

Staten Island used a timely hit from Mason Wells to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pizza Rats ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Wells.
