Late Rally by Black Bears Secures 7-1 Win
|
West Virginia and Batavia got after it at Dwyer Stadium.
The West Virginia Black Bears stymied the Batavia Muckdogs, 7-1, at Dwyer Stadium. Nickenson Baal had a good day at the plate. He was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for West Virginia. With the victory, the Black Bears upped their record to 23-22.
West Virginia used the timely hitting of Andy McGee to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Black Bears on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Baal told the West Virginia News.
