Batavia Drops Connecticut, 7-2
|
Owen Pence had a good game, but he could not keep the Connecticut Tigers from falling, 7-2, to the Batavia Muckdogs at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. The Connecticut left fielder was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk in the loss. The Muckdogs improved to 21-27.
In the top of the fourth, Batavia shortstop Jamilton Castillo had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Castillo stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 4-2, Batavia. For the game, he went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.
Castillo said his team "played with determination."
