Doubledays Edge Past ValleyCats, 5-4
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Auburn Doubledays eventually prevailed.
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Tyson Schlak, the Tri-City ValleyCats lost to the Auburn Doubledays, 5-4. Schlak went 2-3 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. Auburn reliever A.J. Turner picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Tim Tallman shouldered the loss.
The Doubledays beat the ValleyCats with some clutch hitting. The double by Robbie Rodriguez in the top of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Rodriguez gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he came through with the big hit.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Rodriguez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Auburn has an impressive 17-7 record.
