Doubledays Fall, 7-3, to State College
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown State College Spikes take on the Auburn Doubledays.
The State College Spikes defeated the Auburn Doubledays, 7-3, at Bowman Field. State College was led by 25-year old left fielder Michael Nuñez, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Parker Frizzell recorded the save, his 4th.
Travis Shintomi was 3-4 with 3 singles for State College. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Andrés Perez. It was his 32nd hit of the season.
"Been a pretty good stretch for me, hitting-wise," said Nuñez.
The Spikes now have a record of 34-16 with the win over Auburn.
