Cortes, Oilers Too Much for Rapids
The timely hitting of Gary Cortes helped the Oil City Oilers down the Niagara Falls Rapids, 7-4. Cortes went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Oilers. Oil City reliever Tex Tam snagged the win, upping his record to 3-1. Nehemiah Van Heusen shouldered the loss. The Oilers move to 20-27 with the win, while the Rapids drop to 28-19.

Oil City used the timely hitting of Jeremy Porterfield to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Oilers on top, 7-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Cortes.
