Braves Deal Marlins 3-2 Defeat
|
The Atlanta Braves took Miami pitcher Rick Young's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Truist Park. The final score had Atlanta getting past the Marlins, 3-2. Young went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 7. Joe Velasco earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-2. Miami is now 10-11.
The Braves got a big at-bat from center fielder Phooka May, who in the bottom of the seventh hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Braves on top, 3-2.
"Both teams played hard," said Atlanta manager Pat Hitsman.
