Tigers Win 4th Straight, Take Down Spinners, 7-5
|
The Connecticut Tigers locked up a win at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Lowell Spinners, 7-5. On the mound for Connecticut was left-hander Cristobal Pego. He played a major role in the triumph. Pego, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. River Sandor finished to wrap up his 12th save.
Wyatt Paris had a big 2-run double for the Tigers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Connecticut leading 5-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Dave Magee and swatted a double to right. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 7-3.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Condon Murrell, the Lowell manager.
The Spinners, at 12-35, have lost 5 straight games.
