The Staten Island Pizza Rats knocked off the Oil City Oilers, 4-1, in New York-Penn League action at The Oil Field. Staten Island pitcher and Norway, Michigan, native Lashawn Reading had an outstanding performance. Staten Island raised its record to 28-23 with the win.
Staten Island used the hitting of Torquemada Abreu to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Pizza Rats on top, 2-0. For the game, Abreu had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
