Jokers Lose Late, 3-2
|
Atlantic City designated hitter Sebastian Scott had a good game, even if his team did not. The Jokers dropped a 3-2 decision to Gold Beach at Redding Grounds. Scott threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Isaac Shea came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. Earning his 5th save for Gold Beach was P.J. Young.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Cole Freeman came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Atlantic City pitcher Jordan Edwards, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Gold Beach on top, 3-2.
"We were in it," said Atlantic City manager Ed Cruz. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The 'W' lifts Gold Beach's record to 8-18.
