Pizza Rats Drop Spinners, 7-4

The Lowell Spinners could not turn a fine performance from designated hitter Elijah Sorenson into a win. Instead, the Staten Island Pizza Rats prevailed, 7-4. Sorenson went 3-4 with 2 home runs. Staten Island reliever Jaxon Wysocki picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. W.J. Sop was tagged with the loss. Vinny Fonseco earned the save for Staten Island, his 1st.
The Pizza Rats got a big at-bat from right fielder Mitch Caudle. For the game, Caudle was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Staten Island a 3-0 lead.
"Nice to get this one," said Caudle. "Wins have been hard to come by."
Their 15-43 record puts the Pizza Rats 8th in the New York-Penn League South Division.
