Ironbirds Handle Rapids, 3-1
|
The Aberdeen Ironbirds reigned over the Niagara Falls Rapids in damp conditions.
Aberdeen rode a good effort from starter Zach Pavlak to beat the Niagara Falls Rapids at Ripken Stadium. The final score was 3-1. Pavlak, now 2-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.
Stéphan White took Conn Houser deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Ironbirds on top, 2-1. In all, White had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"This was a tough loss," said Niagara Falls manager Chris Cornwall. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The 'W' lifts Aberdeen's record to 13-17.
