The Tri-City ValleyCats got a magnificent effort from pitcher Moshe Bent, who kept Oil City hitters in check en route to a 2-1 ValleyCats win at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The winner was Bent. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jason Smolinski. Mason Roberts earned the save for Tri-City.

Arsen Cope chipped in a solo home run for Tri-City in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.

"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Pitu Martínez.
