Batavia Downed, 4-2, by Red Wings
|
The Hamilton Red Wings cut down the Batavia Muckdogs by the score of 4-2, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Carson Hermiller. Hermiller was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Red Wings. The winner was Hamilton reliever Cole Woolfolk, now 4-1. The loser was Samuel Turner. Simon Harper collected save number 12.
Hamilton used the hitting of Joey Guthrie to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Wings on top, 4-2. For the game, Guthrie had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
After the game, Hamilton manager Rex Tutt applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Hamilton occupies third place in the New York-Penn League North Division at 36-27.
