Gavan Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
|
Even as a kid, Antigo Gavan said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, Gavan showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 22-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the State College Spikes, helping his team knock off the Tri-City ValleyCats by a score of 10-6.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Antigo Gavan flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This year, Gavan is batting .265 with 52 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 30 times and has batted in 23 runs.
