The Lowell Spinners defeated the Atlantic City Jokers, 9-1, at Monongalia County Ballpark. Lowell was led by 20-year old center fielder Aitor Aybar, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Lowell pitcher Tim Landry got the win. He's now 1-0. Adriano Osorio was tagged with the loss. The Spinners go to 26-39, putting them 8th in the New York-Penn League North Division.
Jaden Sherwood helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Spinners.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Atlantic City skipper Andres Zamarida. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
