Doubledays Fall to Hawks, 4-2
|
The Boise Hawks defeated the Auburn Doubledays, 4-2, in Northwest League action at Memorial Stadium. Boise pitcher Richie Lyness had a standout performance. Lyness, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Rex Ernst got the save, the 1st for him this season.
In the bottom of the sixth, Boise third baseman C.J. Louima put his team on top. With no one out and a runner on 1st, he hit his 2nd home run of the year. Auburn pitcher Pimentito Ayllon served it up. Just like that, the Hawks were ahead, 3-2.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Boise manager Jim Snyder.
Boise has a record of 13-21, placing them 6th in the Northwest League South Division.
