ValleyCats Knock Off Black Bears at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium
|
The West Virginia Black Bears were defeated, 4-2, by the Tri-City ValleyCats at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, even though Chase Pressley pitched well for West Virginia. Tri-City reliever Calvin Kmiotek got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Chase Pressley was tagged with the loss. The 6th-place ValleyCats hiked their record to 34-35.
The ValleyCats got a big at-bat from center fielder Gutierre Palmero. For the game, Palmero was 2 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Tri-City a 1-0 lead.
Said losing manager Juwan Henry: "Give the ValleyCats credit. They played a better game than we did."
