Tad Henkel was locked and loaded, helping the West Virginia Black Bears beat the Tri-City ValleyCats, 2-1. Ryan Gordon notched his 13th save in 16 chances. The win gives West Virginia a season record of 37-33.

David De Los Santos had a direct impact on the outcome. De Los Santos contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put West Virginia up, 2-1.

"Good ballgame," said Tri-City manager Jim Kleeman. "But we came up on the short end."
