West Virginia got a valiant performance from pitcher Yuniel De León, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tri-City ValleyCats. Tri-City won the game, 4-3. De León threw 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. Billy Harry picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Rudolf Dunn suffered the loss. The ValleyCats improved to 36-34.

The ValleyCats were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 20-year old third baseman Rob Romo landed a big blow. He turned a 1-1 fastball from Rudolf Dunn into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the ValleyCats home with a thrilling 4-3 win.

"It was bedlam at the end," Romo said.
