Emeralds Beat Hawks in 11
|
The Eugene Emeralds topped the Boise Hawks, 6-4, in 11 innings. Eugene center fielder Elliot Craig, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-4 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Troy Faulkner earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Eugene goes to 2-1.
Eugene needed the clutch hitting of Nicolas Wood to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Emeralds on top, 6-4. For the game, Wood had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Wood said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
