|
The Vermont Lake Monsters topped the Tri-City ValleyCats, 7-4, in New York-Penn League action at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Vermont pitcher and Ennis, Texas, native Thomas Shultz. Evan Heidemann sewed up the save, his 5th. The win gives Vermont a season record of 23-21.
Gunnar Springer, the 24-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Springer contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Vermont up, 3-0.
Springer told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
