The West Virginia Black Bears topped the Youngstown Gremlins, 8-3, in New York-Penn League action at Eastwood Field. The standout performance belonged to West Virginia pitcher and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native Jim Combs. The 'W' lifts West Virginia's record to 23-21.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jimmy Rocha? The West Virginia third baseman had a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Black Bears on top, 5-2. For the game, Rocha had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
