Canucks Reel Off Another Win, 4-3
|
The Abbotsford Canucks picked up a win at Ballpark of Abbotsford, downing the New Westminster Cavalry, 4-3. On the mound for Abbotsford was right-hander Nicolas Almeida, who played a pivotal role in the win. Picking up his 4th save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Wilkinson. The third-place Canucks are now 14-9, the Cavalry 14-9.
Abbotsford right fielder Ruben Savala contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 19th hit of the season and put the Canucks ahead, 4-0.
"Nicolas went out and did what we needed," said Abbotsford manager Chad Greene.
