Sea Unicorns Pick Up 4-1 Win
|
Gold Beach Sea Unicorns starter Liam Jensen was on his game, helping his team beat the Bend Rafters, 4-1. In 5.1 innings, Jensen surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Yency Ávila, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Samuel Dean had a big run-scoring double for the Sea Unicorns in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Gold Beach leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Quinn Skeldon, who is tied for 9th in the NWL in innings pitched with 36.0, and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sea Unicorns ahead, 3-1.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Dean.
Gold Beach sits in 5th place in the Northwest League South Division at 13-16.
