Pippins Suffer 7-2 Loss to Spikes
|
The State College Spikes got a strong performance from pitcher Vic Thompson, who stymied the Yakima Valley offense en route to a win, 7-2, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College is now 36-15, 6 games up in the New York-Penn League South Division.
State College used the bat of Raymond Stanick to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Spikes ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'd like to put some distance between ourselves and the rest of the division," said Thompson.
