Spartans catcher Juan Maria put his stamp on his team's 4-2 win over the Yakima Valley Pippins. Maria went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for Olympia in the contest. Olympia reliever Brian Wandesford picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Kevin Hien absorbed the loss. Kieran Samuel closed out the game, earning his 2nd save.

With Olympia leading 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Maria hit a run-scoring single off Yakima Valley hurler Michael Ogawa. It was the 36th hit of the season for Maria and put his team ahead, 3-1.

Maria said his team "played with determination."
