Emeralds Lose at Home, 2-1, to Salem-Keizer
|
Salem-Keizer Volcanoes starter Lou Gebala turned in a sterling performance against the Eugene Emeralds, leading his team to a slim, 2-1 win. Gebala got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Salem-Keizer goes to 25-13, Eugene to 23-15.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Randinson Montero? The Salem-Keizer shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Volcanoes on top, 1-0. For the game, Montero had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Afterward, Volcanoes manager Chotaro Inoue was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
