Tigers Handed 3-1 Loss by Vermont
|
Centennial Field was the site of a tense game between the Connecticut Tigers and Vermont Lake Monsters.
Vermont Lake Monsters starter Nicky O'Rourke was in fine form against the Connecticut Tigers at Centennial Field, leading his team to a win, 3-1. O'Rourke got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. O'Rourke allowed 1 run. Paco Carvajal recorded the save for Vermont, his 9th of the season.
The Lake Monsters got a big hit from first baseman Jacob Leonard. In the bottom of the sixth, Leonard pounded a solo home run to left. His 6th home run of the season put the Lake Monsters ahead, 3-1.
"I just try to put up zeroes," said O'Rourke, "and let the rest take care of itself."
The loss makes Connecticut 21-36.
