Spartans Hang 4-2 Loss on Cavalry
|
Olympia turned a fine outing from starter Eric Brown into a victory over the New Westminster Cavalry at Ballpark of Victoria. The final score was 4-2. With the win, Olympia has a record of 25-14. New Westminster falls to 21-18.
Chico Ortea had a big 2-run home run for the Spartans in the bottom of the third inning. With Olympia trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Tobias Slavich and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spartans ahead, 2-1.
"There's ebbs and flows in the season and right now we're just looking to finish strong," said Ortea.
