Tides End Esquivel's Streak
Thursday, August 16th, 2007
It was a doubly miserable day today for Sergio Esquivel of the Coatzacoalcos Pump Jacks, as he saw his 21-game hitting streak end and his team lose 8-4 to the Zitacuaro Tides at Pump Jacks Stadium. The 27-year-old left fielder was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Tides.

"Anyone on a 21-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Zitacuaro manager Luis Saldana said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done."

For the season Esquivel has hit .277 with 16 home runs and 65 RBIs. He has played in 76 games and scored 56 times.
