Thrice Is Nice: Emmert Unloads 3 Homers
Sunday, May 5th , 2052
Winston-Salem Dash third baseman Evan Emmert sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Frederick Keys, Emmert told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Emmert pushed the Dash past the Keys, 6-5. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Emmert told reporters after the game.
Evan Emmert grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off B.J. Swain in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off B.J. Swain in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jack Erickson in the 8th.
This season Emmert is batting at a .307 clip with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs.
