Mattix Runs Hit String to 25 Straight Games Tuesday, July 18th , 2056 Win or lose, Ari Mattix just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games. The Asheville Tourists center fielder went 1-for-4, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated, 1-0, by the Greenville Drive at Fluor Field at the West End. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Ari Mattix singled in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and struck out in the 9th. This year, Mattix has socked 115 hits in 352 at-bats for a .327 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .382 pace and his totals also include 50 RBIs and 51 runs scored. |
