Brkic Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Thursday, September 11th , 2064
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Chris Brkic got his name recorded today, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers picked up the win at CMC-NorthEast Stadium, topping the Kannapolis Intimidators, 8-6.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Justin Maurer. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Brkic, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in triples with 4, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the third baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Chris Brkic singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

Batting .247 to date, Brkic has 5 home runs and 41 RBIs.
