Savannah Stops Hoey Hit Streak Friday, June 12th , 2065 Late in the game, all eyes in Ballpark of Savannah were on Ed Hoey as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Hoey, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Hoey, it was that his Lakewood BlueClaws won the game anyway, stopping the Savannah Bananas by the score of 7-3. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Hoey told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." Thus far this year, Hoey is batting .330 with 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored. |
