Tri-City Snaps Pence Streak at 24
Monday, July 30th , 2068
The Tri-City ValleyCats got more than the 6-5 victory at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium -- they also put an end to the 24-game hitting streak of Connecticut Tigers left fielder Owen Pence by holding him without a hit in 3 at-bats.
After the game, Pence seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak.
"I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today."
Pence is hitting .397 for the season with 2 home runs, 23 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 146 at-bats and played in 37 games.
