NYP Honors West Virginia Shortstop Monday, August 9th , 2038 His lightning swing and solid bat took the New York-Penn League by storm. All week Jacob Matteson of the West Virginia Black Bears shocked opponents with an electrifying performance to capture the New York-Penn League Player of the Week honors. The talented shortstop sparked his team by hitting .444 with 8 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. This season Matteson is swinging the bat at a .295 rate with 46 hits in 156 at-bats. To date he has hit 19 home runs, scored 33 runs and driven in 37. |
