Ironbirds Win League Championship Series Saturday, September 17th , 2039 The Aberdeen Ironbirds didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Auburn Doubledays in the League Championship Series tonight. Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 5-1 win moving the club on to the Low A Championship Series, clinching a 4-2 series win in front of the Ripken Stadium crowd. "This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a Low A Championship Series, so it's an important step," said K.J. Cronen as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on." Cronen was named series MVP, as he hit .308 with a .357 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs. On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Doubledays sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Aberdeen celebrate. The Aberdeen Ironbirds will play against the Olympia Spartans in the next round. Olympia won their series against the Spokane Indians 4 games to 1.
