Rios Fashions No-Hitter Against Yankees
Thursday, June 26th , 2036
The Raleigh Cubs relied on no-hit stuff from starter Alvino Rios to defeat the Pulaski Yankees 8-0 at Calfee Park today.
"It's quite a thrill," Rios told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Appalachian League records, he stopped Pulaski cold and hitless, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 8 of the 29 batters he faced.
Raleigh manager Rick Magee was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Rios "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
