After a 5-hit effort to lead Welch's 7-6 victory over the Greeneville Reds, shortstop Edwin Rose told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Rookie Advanced - U24-level is really something special."

The 20-year-old player earned his accolades today at Pioneer Park with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Reds.

"His swing is getting there," said Miners skipper Chris Bjorlin, who spoke glowingly of Rose after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Edwin did that to perfection today."

Edwin Rose doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, grounded out in the 10th, struck out in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 14th.

Thus far this year Rose has hit .298 with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.
