Todd and Ortíz Brawl, League Suspends Them Tuesday, August 18th , 2043 Yesterday at Lindquist Field Page Todd and Manuel Ortíz got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Ogden Raptors and Lethbridge Black Diamonds. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Todd will have to sit out 3 while Ortíz would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. So far this season Todd is hitting .356 with 13 home runs, 29 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 48 hits in 135 at-bats and a .433 OBP. To date this year, Ortíz shows a 3-1 record, 6 starts, 42.2 innings, 33 strikeouts and a 3.59 ERA. |
